Enable Location Services for TimeTrak Mobile & APP

1. All websites should be secure with an SSL Certificate.

TimeTrak uses a third party (Google) for its Map and geolocation information and this third party has recently put controls around websites being secure.

This means that your Maps may not load as expected unless your website is secure, so your URL needs to start with https://

2. Google Maps API Key.

A Google Maps API Key set within your TimeTrak Admin Console “Global System Setup”, as per below, is required.

This is dependent on point 1.

3. Location Tracking Enabled and Enable Google Maps against user(s) profiles

Users who require their location to be tracked (for Mobile and app users only) should have the below profile setting enabled.

Note: This is dependent on point 1 and 2.

4. TimeTrak APP Geolocation Service

App users who require their location to be tracked will require “Enable Geolocation Service” to be enabled against their profile as per below.

Note: This is enabled by default against profiles but is dependent on points 1,2 and 3.

4. TimeTrak APP Geolocation Service

When logging into the TimeTrak App for the first time, you will be prompted to Allow TimeTrak to access the devices location as per below:

Once you Agree to the above, depending on the age of your mobile device and version of IOS or Andriod you are running you will get a message similar to below:

Due to permissions by Android and IOS, the default location setting is “Allow only while using the App”.

When this is enabled, the user’s geolocation will only be reported when the user is actively using the app (i.e.: completing an action such as start travel> check in etc.).

If users geolocations are required to be updated frequently, for example when traveling, users will need to manually update the location settings to “Always” which will allow TimeTrak to capture their location as they travel to site even though they are not actively using the app.

To manually make this change:

Andriod:

Hold down on the TimeTrak App icon from your home screen, and select “App Info” as per below examples:

This will open the App Info screen, Select “Permissons”

Depending on the version of Android you have you will either have a switch to enable Location as per below:

Or you will need to select the Location option and ensure you update the location permissons to “Allow all the time”

IOS:

Select “Settings” from the main screen

Scroll down until you find “TimeTrak” and select this:

Select “Location”

Ensure “Always” is enabled as per below:
